, When I was in the third grade, I was a very unconfined, shy young lady when it came to my literacy abilities. I had a hard time at some of my schoolwork, I even did not pass my Reading and Writing EOGs. I never thought I would be the person I am today, Mrs. Swank helped me achieve that.
Since I had to retake my EOGs, Mrs. Swank worked with me to get ready for the retake. We worked together on past EOG booklets for two hours each day. She would help me look over problems I had trouble on, and we would talk them through. After a week of working together I felt ready to take the retake. But as the day for the retake became closer I got more and more nervous. I didn’t want to take it and feel confident like the previous time and then fail it, so I stressed over it. Mrs. Swank could tell something was not right about how I was acting leading up to the test, so she pulled me aside one day and asked me what was wrong and I told her what I was feeling. She explained to me that everyone goes through hard times in their life and some people experience them earlier than others and how I am one of those few. Mrs. Swank always attempted to cheer someone up if they were in need of cheering up. Mrs. Swank also helped me in a much bigger way.If it was not for Mrs. Swank, my family and I would have not ever found out that I have ADD. This is why I have such a hard time with reading and writing. I don’t comprehend reading as fast as normal people do and I can write a whole bunch but my spelling and grammar are not very well because my brain does not see much writing since I don’t like to read, since it's harder for me. I have pushed myself through obstacles that were challenging throughout my life, because of Mrs. Swank. If it was not for her I would not be as determined as I am today to complete assignments that might be challenging for me. Mrs. Swank helped shape the reader, writer and person I am today!
Mrs. Swank is a very good third grade teacher to have at CES. You will not regret your experience in her classroom. She is a very caring and compassionate teacher. She is the kind of teacher that will incorporate into her lessons interactive group work. I hope my story gives you an impression of who Mrs. Swank is as a person and a teacher. I hope you have a great third grade year at CES.
